LEADERSHIP & STUDENT COUNCIL

The objective of the Leadership Program at Bellerose is to expose students to:

    • An understanding of the process of leadership
    • The application of leadership skills in planning and implementing projects
    • The development of positive self-esteem
    • The development of good citizenship skills
    • The development of the language of leadership, project planning, and group discussion

Students who enroll in the Leadership Program are required to choose one of the four areas: Renaissance, Student Council, Global Leadership, or Students of Service. Participation in Leadership can be on a volunteer basis or students can earn credit. Students wishing to earn credits will be required to attend scheduled classes during designated lunch hours and assigned seminar blocks. Students wishing to participate in more than one area may do so, but they will only be registered in one section for attendance and mark purposes. Students may join Leadership at any grade level, and CTS credit may be awarded with satisfactory completion of course requirements.

    Grade 10: Planning a Venture

Students learn and apply the “venture planning process,” while planning a venture. Each venture is modified to relate to the section chosen by the student.

    Grade 11: Governance & Leadership

Students are introduced to governance, its place within the administrative structure of a school or community, including the roles, responsibilities, practices, and procedures for participating in governance and leadership.

    Grade 12: Leading for Change

Students investigate change and decision making processes used in the school and/or community. They construct, propose, and initiate the use of a project-planning model to affect change. Students must demonstrate satisfactory completion of Governance & Leadership prior to starting this section.
