Construction technology

Woodwork is the main focus in this program. Students will develop skills in the safe and accurate use of all of the major woodworking tools. They will also become familiar with wood products and other materials commonly used in the furniture and construction industries. Most of the program is shop‑based, with students completing projects that are designed to build their craftsmanship in a logical sequence. In the Grade 11 and Grade 12 levels, students build a variety of furniture and cabinet pieces, developing a higher level of skill and a more in-depth knowledge of woodworking. Most students will have the opportunity to design and build a project of their own choosing at the end of each level of the program. Completion of all 1C (Grade 10) modules including a personal project is a prerequisite to the 2C (Grade 11) level.
