This course will combine Forestry and Wilderness strands to provide students with a global outdoor experience. Students will explore native wildlife populations and will understand conservation and preservation models. We will explore the forest ecosystem and explain the structure and functioning of trees. All participants will complete standard first aid certification, learn the survival pattern and demonstrate skills in the outdoors in a variety of settings. Students will use their learned skills to plan, prepare and conduct an extended backcountry trip. Mapping and map reading skills will be offered.
