Mathematics 14 and Mathematics 24 focus on the acquisition and improvement of practical life skills. These courses are designed for a limited number of trades programs or for those students directly entering the workplace. Successful completion of Mathematics 24 fulfills the minimum mathematics requirement for a high school diploma.
Mathematics 14 includes the study of rational numbers, decimals, integers and whole numbers, percent, rates and ratios, patterns, graphs and their analysis, linear equations, estimation and conversion in standard Imperial and SI units, perimeter, area, surface area and volume, properties of circles, statistics and general problem solving.
Prerequisite: Less than 50% in Grade 9 Math
Mathematics 24
(5 credits)
Mathematics 24 includes the study of tables, spreadsheets, consumer problems, personal income tax, budgeting, investment and credit, measurement, area, volume, mass, scale factors, design, layout, time graph analysis, statistics and probability.
Prerequisite: 50% in Math 14 or 45% in Applied Math 10
