Social Studies 13-23-33

Social Studies 13
(5 credits)

Social Studies 13 covers content similar to Social Studies 10.  Canada in the 20th century and citizenship are topics that will be explored.

Prerequisite:  Less than 65% in Grade 9 Social Studies

 

Social Studies 23
(5 credits)

Social Studies 23 students study the development of the modern world from the French Revolution to WWI.  Students learn to use problem solving, decision-making, and critical thinking strategies to address global issues.

Prerequisite:  50% in Social Studies 13 or 45% in Social Studies 10

Social Studies 33
(5 credits)

Social Studies 33 is similar to Social Studies 30 in content and is designed to meet the needs of students who may be intending to attend post-secondary training or enter the workplace.  Major political and economic systems and global conflict and cooperation are studied to prepare students to participate in society as effective and responsible citizens.  Students must write a provincial diploma examination.

Prerequisite:  50% in Social Studies 23 or 45% in Social Studies 20
